Dell XPS M140
Dell XPS (Xtreme Performance System) M140 is a great breed of entertainment notebook promising great service and support. It is a light and compact 5.8 pound notebook with 14.1 inch display. It offers a worthy set of multimedia and entertainment features with great performance and good battery life. M140 is among the least expensive and most portable laptops featuring operating system like Windows XP Media Center 2005 to watch movies, listen to music, and play photo slide shows.
Dell XPS M140 has an Intel Pentium M 770 processor (2.13 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 2 MB Cache), 1 GB memory and an 80 GB hard drive. It features ports, slots, and jacks like S-Video-out and four-pin FireWire ports, headphone and microphone jacks, an Express Card slot, and 5-in-1 memory-card reader to support all the major flash formats but it does not feature a graphics card making it more media oriented than gaming.
Windows MCE allows the user to use laptop as a TV and DVR. The software pack includes Corel Word Perfect 12 minisuites, Abode Photo Album 6 Deluxe, Corel Paint Shop Pro X, Sonic Digital Media Plus, and a 36-month subscription to McAfee Security Center. Using Media Direct menu, a user is allowed to manage contents from devices such as flash memory cards and USB storage keys. The keyboard featured with M140 is the best keyboard offered by Dell with nice touch pad, comfortable mouse buttons, and a well-plotted layout.
The display or screen featured is 14.1 inch WXGA TrueLife LCD Panel. M140 features integrated modem, NIC 56K modem, and integrated network, Optical Free 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD +/-RW) with double-layer DVD+R write capability, wireless networking cards Intel PRO 2200 internal wireless and 6-cell lithium ion primary battery. Moreover, it offers one year limited warranty of services and support plus one year mail-in.
